The word Calisthenics comes from the ancient Greek words kalos, which means "beauty", and sthenos meaning "strength". Calisthenics is a form of exercise that consists of a variety of gross motor movements which are performed generally without using equipment. These body-weight training exercises are intended to increase strength, fitness and flexibility through movements such as pulling or pushing yourself up, bending, jumping, or swinging, using only one's body weight for resistance.
